A Prohibited Steps Order is an application to the court under the Children’s Act, and it may be used to safeguard against a broad range of living and well-being decisions.

A Prohibited Steps Order can cover any number of specific circumstances, including:

  • Whether your child or children should change their names;
  • Decisions pertaining to their education, and where they should be schooled;
  • Whether they should have a particular medical treatment or operation;
  • Whether they should receive religious or non-religious education;
